Educating Girls Everywhere

PHOTOS

Koumba Sangaré (standing) receives some School Girls Unite assistance to continue her education in Bamako because there is no secondary school in her village. This 15-year-old is a very active member of Les Filles Unies and participates in regular visits to rural areas where 65 younger students receive School Girls Unite scholarships.

Djeneba Coulibali (center) is one of the stars among the 70 students in Mali who receives a SCHOOL GIRLS UNITE scholarship. She received the top academic award in May 2007. Her father died and then her mother remarried and moved 4 miles from school. That is too far to walk each day and her mother cannot afford the school fees. Our sister organization in Mali, whose members are high school and university students, has arranged for Djeneba to stay with another family so she can continue her education.
