To give individual girls in Mali the opportunity to get an education right now by providing scholarships. Our mission is to tackle prejudice against girls and expand their freedom and opportunities through education. Good News: The number of girls who are not in school dropped from 90 million in 2000 to 70 million in 2006. Bad News: Over 40 million children in Africa still do not go to school. Only 30% of girls in Mali go to elementary school and only 20% of them reach 6th grade. "If your plan is for one year, plant rice. If your plan is for 10 years, plant trees.
